The Department of Health's Older People and Disability Division is leading a project 'Partnerships for Older People Projects' (POPP). The strategic aim of the project is to test and evaluate (through pilots to be established during 2006/07 and 2007/08) innovative approaches that sustain prevention work in order to improve outcomes for older people

Age Concern UK's largest organisation working with and for older people.
Help the Aged is an international charity fighting to free disadvantaged older people from poverty, isolation and neglect. They research the needs of older people in the UK and overseas and campaign for changes in policy. They provide community services and publish information on finance, how to stay healthy as well as guidance on choosing a care home.

Devon County Council was one of eight local authorities to pilot this new national Government initiative to tackle social exclusion among people aged 50 plus, particularly those who are "harder to reach" such as frailer people and people from minority communities. The two year pilot has now ended.
