Les Carter (aged 80 years) lives right in the centre of Ottery St Mary close to all the local amenities. This is ideal for Les as now that he doesn’t drive her is able to walk into the main shopping area and get every thing that he needs.

After visiting a Chiropodist for a problem with in growing big toe nails Les was referred to the My Life, My Choice foot care service by his GP.
“I had been to see the Chiropodist a couple of times and he sorted out the problem with my in growing big toe nails. I knew that there was no need to continue going to see him although I knew that I would struggle to cut them on my own as I can’t bend and reach down like I used to be able to and also because I had been struggling to cut my own before I had the problem with the in growing nails.”
Getting to the foot care clinic at Ottery Hospital was an issue for Les but a local voluntary transport service was able to help. Les now attend the foot care clinic every six to seven weeks and is very pleased with the service.
“I am very pleased with the service and really appreciate having such a service. I have problems with my legs; they just don’t bend and move like they ought to. Having your toe nails cut is such a small insignificant thing really in the big scheme of things but it has made such a difference to me.”
